For a stable bundle
If the same cables travel together for months, a simple strip or short piece of cord may be enough. Label the bundle first. A disposable fastener can be frustrating when you need to add one more cable, so leave a little room for changes.
For a changing bundle
A reusable closure is more convenient when a kit is packed and unpacked often. Hook-and-loop is easy to flatten; a bendable rubber-coated tie may wrap irregular lightweight items. Neither should be treated as a rated strap for securing cargo or supporting weight.
Check the fit before buying
Measure the bundle's circumference with a string. Add enough length for a secure wrap and for your fingers to reopen it. Compare that measurement with the product size on the manufacturer's page. Buy a small quantity first only if the free options do not solve the problem.
